1IS IT SCARY?
It is pretty much the same sensation we experience when we face a change in our ordinary life. Once we separate our feet from the ground we recognize the tranquility, peace and armony of flying.
2WHAT IS THE PRE-FLIGHT CHECK?
It consists of correctly using every accessory that makes part of the flight system (verifying that every line of the paraglider is free), the paraglider correctly displayed over the ground, carabiners perfectly closed, helmets and harness buckles correctly locked. The wheater and atmospheric conditions must also be verified.
3WHAT SAFETY COMPONENTES MAKE UP FOR THE FLIGHT SYSTEM?
Helmets, seats with Airbag/Bumpair type protection, emergency parachute and safety carabiners.
4CAN I BRING MY OWN CAMERA?
Yes, you can, the passenger is completely hands-free, however we don’t recommend looking through the objective for too much time, since this could lead to dizziness (similar to reading in a moving vehicle).
5WHAT SHOULD I DO?
During the takeoff you must run in the direction that the pilot indicates and mantain the sprint (sometimes a simple movement forward) even if you feel the paraglider starts to go up. It is very important to remember you must be in front of the pilot always.
6HOW MANY PASSENGERS PER PARAGLIDER?
In a 2-seat flight, only the pilot and the passenger can fit, if you go with someone else they must go in a different paraglider, however both can takeoff almost at the same time.
7WHAT ARE THE SCHEDULE?
Our flight spot is active the 7 days of the week from 9:00 am through 5:00 pm. The activity however depends on the wheater conditions. The morning tends to be the most appropriate moment for the activity since during the afternoon we may experience certain difficulties during winter (rainy days) and summer (very strong winds), these two situations doesn’t allow flying. We strongly recommend to verify and call us before booking a flight.
8WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR FLYING?
You don’t need previous knowledge or experience, all the instructions are provided by the pilot before the flight. Before the takeoff they will help you put on all the safety devices and you will be safety-locked to the pilot.
9DOES THE FLIGHT MUST BE BOOKED?
Short answer, no. However it is much better to book the flight since you run the risk of losing time due to one or more of the following situations: not ahving the best wheater conditions (rain or very strong winds), during the week not all of our pilots are available (so there may be less pilots available), high demand of the service (waiting queue).
10HOW EARLY SHOULD I BOOK THE FLIGHT?
You can book 1 or 2 days before the flight, even on the same day you expect to flight (in this case you should call in the morning – 07:00 am – 09:00 am, so you have plenty of time to prepare and arrive on time).
11ANY SUGGESTIONS BEFORE THE FLIGHT?
Just before the flight we recommend: - Not eating much, not flying after a night of drinking liquor, comfortable clothes (jeans, sneakers, etc). – Keep in mind this activity highly depends of the wheater conditions, so you must not be in a rush when going to fly.
12AS AN ADULT CAN I FLIGHT ALONE IF THEY EXPLAIN TO ME HOW TO? IF SO, CAN SOMEONE FLIGHT WITH ME
An adult can fly alone only, and only if they receive a training course to be a pilot of paraglider. If you want to fly with someone else you must fulfill all the requirements to be certified as a double pilot (tandem or 2 seat pilot). Remember this sport requires a lot of practice and having someone under your care during this activity is no joke.
13IS THERE ANY AGE RESTRICTIONS? DO WE LAND ON THE SAME SPOT WE START?
If you bring kids to flight they must be 4 or 5 years old at least and people up to 90 years old (as long as their size and physical conditions are appropriate). If there is good wheater it may be possible to land on the same spot we takeoff. If it is not possible, the landing spot may be in Bello (you will have a transport to the takeoff spot at no additional cost).
14IS THERE ANY WEIGHT RESTRICTION?
We have no specified limits, however depending on the weight some flight conditions may change. If the passenger has a weight of 90 kg to 130 kg it may affect the flight plan for good or for bad (don’t worry, we are not talking about safety, safety is always good). For instance, during a cold day with no relevant winds the flight may be shorter the more the passenger weights, it may be necessary to land in Bello, on the other hand if it is a sunny day with good wind the flight can be sustained for much longer and even land on the starting spot.
15IS IT SAFE TO FLIGHT IF I HAVE HYPERTENSION?
As long as your doctor doesn’t specify these kind of activities as risky, you don’t have to worry.
16IF I AM A MINOR, CAN I FLIGHT?
Yes, as long as you come accompanied by a responsible adult.
17WHAT HOSPITAL IS AVAILABLE IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT?
The Pablo Tobón Uribe hospital is the closest hospital.
